Ceasefire at the pump — June data shows drivers snapped back the moment gas prices fell
Upside's report tracking June fuel trends shows the following:
- Fill-ups got bigger. After months of "survival mode" (more trips, fewer gallons), gallons per transaction jumped 5% month-over-month, and stations sold 2% more gallons per day.
- Premium is back. Midgrade and premium volume rebounded sharply after cratering during the peak of the conflict — a margin bright spot for retailers.
- But the recovery is fragile. Fighting has resumed, POTUS has called the ceasefire "over," and Strait traffic has stalled. July could rewind the tape.
Dr. Thomas Weinandy, Upside's Principal Research Economist, can walk you through the data and what July might hold — from OPEC+ supply increases to hurricane-season risk. He's available for interviews or written commentary on short notice.
